Datathon for the Environment is open to everyone. It will take place through August 12th - 19th. It's purpose is to increase the utilization and visibility of open data in accordance with the Innovation Policy for Iceland.
Participants are invited to process the data of the various organizations to find solutions to the environmental issues that we are facing in this day and age by using Icelandic open data.
The hackathon will both be online and onsite!

Panel of judges’ criteria:
Is the solution innovative/original?
How about the usability / feasibility of the solution?
Is it a solution that will benefit the environment?
Does it create value for the future?
Will the concept be developed beyond the Datathon?

Who can participate?
Anyone who wants and is interested can participate in Datathon for the environment.
Where can I watch opening and prize award ceremonies?
You can watch the opening ceremony onsite at University of Iceland but they will also be live streamed on Facebook and other media (TBA)
Requirements
WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE?
Participants need to register by filling out the registration form on hakkathon.island.is to participate. Communications between participants, mentors, jury and organizers will take place on platforms such as Slack, Zoom, DevPost and Facebook.
For the project result each team will need to confirm their team, challenge and dataset before 8PM August 16th and finally fill out a written solution + submit a video presentation on DevPost before 12PM on August 19th.
Where can I watch opening and prize award ceremonies?
You can watch the opening ceremony at University of Iceland but they will also be live streamed on Facebook and Vísir.is.
